The Holiday's are still in full swing around here - I found this video and wanted to share with my peeps! Boy, I wish I had a hairdresser on call........ I sometimes hate doing my hair.... hence the ever present pal o'mine the Ponytail. I am going to get mine "blownout" before an employee party we are hosting this Sunday - stay tuned for some Pic's! Getting a Gel Mani-pedi as well - along with another RTR Dress! Yeah! Can you say fun weekend??????
Merry Christmas Everyone, Just a quick update.....
just returned from 2 fun, food filled hectic days in NYC!The weather was FREEZING but as it should be @
Christmas time right?The Window’s at
Lord & Taylor, Saks Fifth Ave. & Bergdorf’s did not disappoint.
We also went to #EATALY for the first
time! It’s like its own little city. The food and shopping there were so Great! You must put it on your list next time your
in “the city”.Needless to say I found
so much inspiration there, both for blogging, decorating and fashion.
Like most bloggers, I find
a lot of great idea’s online, Pinterest and
my RSS reader, but I find that getting out and seeing people, places & things
in person so much more inspiring! Finding new designers at local boutiques,
checking out a modern home tours, or visiting iconic showrooms or my favorite... stumbling into that little "hole in the wall" and finding magic.
Whatever you do this Holiday Season Enjoy yourself!
Whether you are having large party or small get together building your @ home bar is key. Be prepared for some initial expenses but you really don't have go overboard. Your bar "pantry" will develop over time. Keep in mind if you are hosting the Holiday Soiree people will bring gifts - most times flowers a red or white wine, great bottle of Scotch and the like - feel free open for your party or better yet save. These have a long shelf life - and you will soon have a lot to choose from - I'm sure. Below are a few things to start our with your "Basics "
You will need the following a few choices of beer - Craft beers are easy to find and labels look really cool on your bar - good Vodka, Gin, Scotch, and Bourbon (dry vermouth if your doing martinis) and who is not doing MARTINI'S these days? BTW - mini's are cute super cute and very festive for parties - think speciality drinks - Jack Frost Martinimade ahead with no ice in a pitcher.
HaveFresh sweet & sour mix ( 1/2 cup lemon juice, 1/2 cup lime juice, 1 cup sugar...Heat until sugar is dissolved...Cool.....This fresh mix makes a world of difference). Use good brand name mixers like real Coke, Canada Dry GA, A good club soda and tonic water.... Not the time to skimp my friends.
A MUST is to have a Bar Book on hand - I went by Relish Decor Frederick, MD to grab my copy of Ultimate bar book and a few other items.... "thanks tons Hallie"
Set it up and have fun - you can bring any table, cart etc. to use. Be creative think outside the box .... frame some cool photo's - use chalk boards- slate - ribbons - anything just make it festive! Have little umbrella's/stirr's for your drinks - cocktail napkins - you can buy a rubber stamp & personalize them! #Homegoods and #Marshalls are great for inexpensive supplies. Remember it's a Party Have Fun.... You can go all out $$$ but you don't have to. So set up the IPOD - Get Your Grove On and DONT FORGET THE ICE!!!!!!
***Be sure to 'SHARE THE LOVE" with your designated drivers and non-drinkers - have sparking punch, funky waters - beautiful & cool glassware (remember they won't be "tipsy" & drop them - LOL) - infused ice cubes etc. Everyone wants to feel a "part of the party"!
BOTTOM'S UP & LOT'S OF LOVE - CHEERS
THANKS FOR STOPPING BY,
Jack Frost Martini 1 cup pineapple juice 1/2 cup (4 ounces) light rum 1/2 cup (4 ounces) blue curacao 1/2 cup (4 ounces) cream of coconut (not coconut milk) 10 to 12 ice cubes Shredded coconut, for garnish Mix together the juice, liquors, cream of coconut and ice; strain into martini glasses. Rim glasses with the shredded coconut.
Love my camera - learning so many new things - composition, depth of field.......... styling a shot..... What have you been working on - Target & Homegoods Rock for these - this is making me look at things from a whole new perspective.
I Hope everyone is well in this festive yet sometimes hectic season.....
I wanted to share a quick - almost free - face mask.....
To enjoy the perks of a facial without the cost, try this spa-inspired mask: Leave 2tsp of orange zest out on the counter to dry overnight. In the a.m. combine the zest with 1/2 sup steel cut oatmeal and 3 Tbs of plain yogurt in a food processor and pulse until smooth. spread the mixture onto your face; leave on for 15 minutes or so, then rinse with warm water. The citric acid in the orange peel will soothe inflammation and combat acne while the oatmeal and yogurt exfoliate and moisturize to leave "party" ready skin. Bonus : The scent of citrus calms stress and lifts your mood. It is also a quick easy hostess gift - just jazz it up in a cute jar-tie with ribbon- add glitter name tag and Viola unique super cute gift!
Also check this great little finds I came across
The invitations are from Paper Source /perfume bottle-Marshall's/Agate coasters - Target/candles from my local Safeway.... I am in love with the invitations will be using them for my fist ladies luncheon in our new house!
Good Morning All, Took some time off to really work with this puppy (our mini horse) ABE - he is a Newfoundland 4 1/2 months and 65lbs!...
