Have you ever worn pink eye makeup? I own lipsticks, glosses, blushes and nail polishes in every shade of pink going, but rarely has the color reached my eyes. I have used burgundy or rust colors and love the look - makes my blue/green eyes really stand out. Day-to-day I favour neutral eyeshadow, black liner and if I’m going out or have a meeting I will do more of the "cat-eye liner" look
Last week the DIOR Cosmestics Counter invited me into their Beauty Boutique to sample the new Addict It-Lash collection. And, who am I to say no to an invitation to any beauty event - espically DIOR. I decided it was the perfect time to try the new hot pink eye makeup.
These latest additions to the Dior Addict collection are It-Lash, an extreme volume mascara, and It-Line, a long-lasting gel eyeliner. They both come in four shades: It-Black, It-Blue, It-Purple and It-Pink. So it's official I am not in love. So I say...."give it a go!" - line with the pink and then use the black at the lash line for definition and finish with a dark black mascara.
As you know fashion - food & beauty are my main love's and since I started blogging in 2013 I’ve been lucky enough to meet some incredible makeup artists, learn new tricks and sample the latest product launches. So although I’m in no way an expert, I have always feed my inner beauty junkie. And if I learned one thing along the way it’s this: some beauty products really are worth the extra spend.
Now, obviously I am not saying you need to spend a fortune to look great. And you should never let the fashion or beauty industries make you feel like you do. But if you’re going to invest in a few luxury beauty buys how do you know what’s actually worth the extra spend? I went through my beauty stash over the July 4th holiday and these are some of the products I spend money on without fail…
Foundation: This is probably a no-brainer. I’ve never been able to find a drugstore foundation or tinted moisturiser that I love. I’ve come close a few times, but I think it’s impossible to find “the one” unless you visit a proper department store counter and spend a little extra. If you’re thinking of investing in your first luxury base I’d suggest trying Chanel VITALUMIÈRE AQUA Ultra-Light or Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer.
Lip Gloss: I used to despise lip gloss. But that was because I’d only experienced cheap formulas or those horrible glue-like freebies from 17 and Bliss magazine, so I was judging it unfairly. It was only when I discovered the lip gloss offering at AERIN that my mind was changed. A good gloss doesn’t feel sticky or gooey, and should be comfortable enough to wear all day long. YSL and Chanel also have great offerings.
Top Coat: A good top coat will give your at-home mani/pedi extra millage and also create a professional-looking gloss. Seche Vite Dry Fast top coat is my personal favourite.
Fake Tan: There’s a reason a bottle of St. Tropez self tan costs more than whatever’s on special offer at your local drugstore. Premium fake tans simply do a much better job (in my experience) than the bargain buys. My favourites are the St.Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Mousse and Clinique Body Tinted Lotion.
Eye Shadow Palettes: An Urban Decay Naked palette is a very smart beauty investment, as it will last for ages and you can create an endless supply of looks. If you’re not a fan of shimmer try the Naked Basics selection instead, which features six wear-anywhere shades. Charlotte Tilbury’s colour-coded quads are also really impressive and make great gifts.
Well all - I am gonna run and try to catch the fireworks tonight - or make my own!!!!!!!! Wink Wink - I hope your July 4th is wonderful - because I think you all are!
THANKS FOR STOPPING BY,
